Bits from the life of Cuebas (pronounced Quay-bus).

Music, music, music.

Right now I am listening to Schubert’s 8th Symphony, the “Unfinished,” and it is amazing. I just thought that I’d let everybody know that. I would love to get a copy of the score to study, or I could have a printout of the score if anybody wants to give me a few hundred pieces of paper and a bunch of ink. But I don’t think that’ll happen.

The transition right at the beginning of the first movement from the 1st to 2nd theme (The first reminds me of the theme from Swan Lake, btw) is something that I want to try in my next composition, which am planning to start soon. I want to write a 1 movement concerto in Bb Major for violin and piano. When I was at Dr. Hay’s recital last Saturday, I was thinking about what I want to work on next while he was playing the “Archduke” trio, and the idea of Bb Major just felt right to me (Because it’s in Bb). I want to branch out of the a minor that I’ve only written in, so it won’t include g minor.

On October 20th the Glendale High School orchestra is playing the first movement of my Suite for String Orchestra in a minor. I was going to upload a midi mp3 of it but have decided that it would be much better to post a live recording of the piece. It is my premier as a composer so it’s a special night for me. Right now I’m going through it again and changing a few minor instrumentation things that Dr. Prescott pointed out when I showed it to him on Wed, then I will send a new, final copy to Mr. J. to prepare.

College has been very interesting to me musically, and I haven’t even taken composition yet. I’m having my 2nd private lesson with Dr. Hays in a few hours, so I’ll see how everything goes once these first two weeks are done. But things are looking pretty positive.

Until next time, and with love,

A bit about me

I’m going to college now for Music Education and Composition because I am a huge fan of classical music and classical literature. In the past I’ve been very interested in math and physics as a future, but I’m sure that I’ll stick with music now that I’m in college. I play violin in the orchestra at my college and love every second of it.

My visit to Subway, part 1

“Hi, welcome to Subway. What can I get you?”

“I’ll have some cookies.”

“You don’t want a sandwich?”

“Holy fuck you sell sandwiches too?!”

famoose:

omg

I would like to state that The Office (U.S.) is my favorite show that is still being released. This is quickly followed by The I.T. crowd (If you’ve never seen it, it’s the funniest show that I’ve ever seen. And I don’t exaggerate about things often). My favorite show that is not still in production is definitely 3rd Rock from the Sun, which I am working through slowly on Netflix Instant Watch.
